The TISS Administration, through a newspaper advertisement during the semester break, made public the decision to put a “non-residential” tag along with deferment of the B.A. course in Social Sciences in the TISS, Hyderabad campus. This came as a shock to the entire student community as this was completely an arbitrary decision which did not include any students in the decision making process. These autocratic decisions will have a severe impact on the academic environment and on the lives of all current and future students of TISS, Hyderabad.
The student community of TISS, Hyderabad has called for protests in light of these decisions. The students have been boycotting classes and protesting on the campus since December 10, 2018. Various universities from all over the country like Jamia Milia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University have shown their support to the protesting students and have released solidarity statements.
Despite the protests, the administrations of both TISS, Hyderabad and Mumbai have been indifferent towards the concerns of the students. The TISS Hyderabad student community has asserted that the protests will continue until their concerns and demands are met.
The fight continues!
